Oooh, the Heartwood Hotel series is just so wonderful. The illustrations, the story, and, as you astutely point out, how she tackles tough topics with grace.
The Midnight Children is new to me and I look forward to reading it! So excited to keep reading your posts.
Katie I am so proud of you and your newsletter! Your love of childrens books and willingness to share your expertise is so valuable. Thank you for including me. I will be reading, applauding your progress and sharing your link with other moms and grandmas. Delightful!
Post #2! Yay Katie! I’ve heard so many good things about the Heartwood Hotel series — and I even have two of them already — but I keep forgetting to try them. This is great reminder; thank you!
Ooooh, good to know. I'm putting together our potential read-alouds for the next couple of months and am adding The Greatest Gift, the winter one, to my list.
Thank you for the early chapter book recs! I always struggle with reading chapter books to the littles because there's only so long they love the picture books. Will you ever review picture books? Just curious!
I know! It is definitely a special and fleeting time. Keep reading picture books to those first graders! I might get a wild hair and share a picture book every now and again, but this newsletter will focus mostly on chapter books and middle grade novels, because those are the types of books I'm asked about most. Sarah Miller from the newsletter Can We Read? does an incredible, incredible job reviewing picture books. Way better than I ever could! I think I emailed you her newsletter, but if not--you can find on my homepage under the newsletters I recommend.
This is the absolute sweetest shoutout (and a total surprise, as I was genuinely on this page just leaving a comment of my own!) I so appreciate your support, Katie — and I’d love to go a guest post swap if you’re ever interested…
