I also love A HEART IN A BODY IN THE WORLD, about a high school girl who runs from Seattle to Washington DC :)

This might be my favorite post (yet). I really enjoyed all of these books and this mantra about running being about running and not being about running really rings true — running can teach you so many life lessons.

This is totally up my ally - I adore books about running (that aren't about running :) I really enjoyed Ghost and Keeping Pace and will have to check out the third book. Also, YES to Coach Chris Bennett!

Maniac Magee, by Jerry Spinelli, is an incredible book that features running, but just pursued for its own sake, not as an organized sport. I loved it as a kid and read it five or six times.

Oh my gosh, I loved that one too— totally forgot about it. I think my kids would be totally into it too- thanks for the reminder!

I mean, I’m biased 😉 but I think you should! FWIW, Ive found the running community to be so supportive and inclusive no matter how long you have been running, how fast you are, what you look like etc. It’s really great!
